Clinton Brink – Early life
Both Clinton and Cristen were originally from South Dakota, where they were active in their local community and church. They were described as warm, compassionate, and family-oriented people. Their daughters, ages 7 and 9, were homeschooled by Cristen, who was a loving mother and dedicated teacher. Clinton worked in construction and was admired for his hard work and loyalty. The couple had built a life centered on faith, education, and outdoor family adventures.
Clinton Brink – Career
Clinton was employed in the construction sector, where he was known for his skills, leadership, and reliability. Cristen had a background in education, focusing much of her energy on homeschooling her daughters. She believed in providing a strong, value-driven foundation for their future. Together, they made an ideal team balancing work, parenting, and faith-based living.
Clinton Brink – The Tragic Incident at Devil’s Den
On July 26, 2025, the Brinks took their daughters hiking at Devil’s Den State Park, a scenic area in northwest Arkansas. What started as a normal family outing turned into a nightmare when they were ambushed by Andrew James McGann, a 28-year-old man recently hired as a teacher in the area.
Clinton and Cristen were fatally stabbed in the attack. In a heroic act, Cristen led the children to safety but chose to return to help her husband—where she too was killed. Their daughters were unharmed and are now staying with relatives.
The Brink family shared:
“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult time as they grieve and learn how to navigate this new reality. They ask that if anyone has any information at all that will help in the investigation to please contact the proper authorities immediately. Clinton and Cristen died heroes protecting their little girls, and they deserve justice. They will forever live in all of our hearts.”
The Arrest and Investigation
After a five-day investigation, police arrested McGann at a Springdale barbershop. DNA evidence and his confession confirmed his role. He has been charged with two counts of capital murder, and prosecutors may pursue the death penalty. The motive remains unclear.
