Iraida Palmieri was known as wife of American Grammy Award-winning pianist Eddie Palmieri. Her husband Eddie Palmieri passed away on August 6, 2025 at the age of 88 in Hackensack, New Jersey. She married Eddie Palmieri in the mid-1950s (they were together for 60 years). She was also known as Mi Luz Mayor. Her husband born on December 15, 1936 in New York City, New York and known as Musician bandleader and composer. He also founded the band Conjunto La Perfecta. 
Iraida Palmieri and husband’s death
Iraida Palmieri’s husband passed away on August 6, 2025 at the age of 88 due to a prolonged illness in Hackensack, New Jersey. His death was confirmed by his family on his Instagram. Iraida Palmieri died in 2014, as reported by The New York Times. However, four years earlier, in March 2010, a serious incident occurred when her upstairs neighbor, Maria Cartagena, shot at her. The attack happened while Iraida was entering her Forest Hills apartment. The bullet grazed her head, causing a minor injury. Maria was reportedly angry about the noise coming from Iraida’s apartment. Following the incident, Maria was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault, and illegal possession of a weapon, according to a report by the New York Post.
Eddie Palmieri said, “This is a very difficult time for my family … Right now, I am focused on one thing: the well-being and safety of my family. That is all there is to say at the moment. Please respect our privacy.”
Eddie Palmieri and Iraida Palmieri is survived by his daughters Gabriela, Renee, Eydie and Ileana, and son Edward Palmieri II, and four grandchildren.

Ultimately, these songs represent our love story.” “Selecting each composition and writing new music helped me work through my grief after she passed away in 2014. Because this music is in her honor, everything from start to finish had to be of the highest calibre, and I am proud to say that it is just that.”
