Bill Ferrario, a former offensive lineman for the Green Bay Packers and standout with the Wisconsin Badgers, has died at the age of 47.
Ferrario reportedly passed away unexpectedly at his home in Wisconsin—just two days after celebrating his birthday on September 22, according to The Times Tribune. His death news announced on September 24, 2025. However The cause of death has not yet been publicly disclosed.
Born on September 22, 1978, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Ferrario rose to prominence as a college football player at the University of Wisconsin. A key figure in the Badgers’ offensive line, he started 50 consecutive games—an incredible streak that underscored his reliability and toughness. His performance helped Wisconsin capture back-to-back Rose Bowl victories, and he earned recognition as an All-Big Ten player.
In 2001, Ferrario was selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. He went on to play with the Packers before stints with Washington and the Carolina Panthers. Although his professional career was relatively brief, ending in 2005, his contributions at both the college and NFL levels left a lasting impression on teammates and fans alike. “He was like the ideal kid you wanted to coach,” coach DeAntona said.
“I am heartbroken. I have known Billy since fourth grade, and he had a pure heart of gold and was a trustworthy friend,” longtime friend Jason Waibel said.
