Pawar was one of the most seasoned political leaders in the state and served multiple terms as deputy chief minister. His sudden death has sent shockwaves through Maharashtra’s political landscape, prompting tributes from national leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others who praised his decades of public service.

He is survived by his wife Sunetra Pawar, a Rajya Sabha member and social worker, and their two sons, Parth Pawar and Jay Pawar.
Parth Pawar, the elder son, had made early forays into politics and contested the Lok Sabha elections from Maval, though he did not win. He studied commerce before pursuing further education abroad and subsequently took part in family business interests.
His younger son, Jay Pawar, stayed largely outside frontline politics for many years, working in businesses and gaining respect within the family’s social and commercial circles.
Recently, Jay’s marriage to Rituja Patil in Bahrain attracted attention from both political and public forums, and there has been speculation he might take on a more active political role in Baramati, a traditional stronghold of the Pawar family.
