A 37-year-old woman accused of injuring a police officer in South Carolina has been taken into custody following a statewide alert.
According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), Lacey Cushman was wanted in connection with a shooting that left a Springfield police officer injured. The incident occurred on Gardenia Road in Blackville.
Authorities issued a Blue Alert late Monday night, warning the public that Cushman was considered armed and dangerous. Around 10:35 p.m., officials began actively searching for her across Barnwell County.

SLED described Cushman as a white female, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds. She was last seen driving a 2011 white Chevrolet Traverse with South Carolina license plate 706IRU.
Just over an hour later, authorities confirmed a breakthrough. At 11:56 p.m. Monday, Cushman was successfully taken into custody, bringing an end to the urgent manhunt.
Officials have not yet released detailed information about the condition of the injured officer.
The incident was not isolated. Earlier Monday, in Anderson County, a separate shooting occurred during a traffic stop on Interstate 85. In that case, a suspect was shot and killed after opening fire on a deputy.
