Reggie McFadden, the American stand-up comedian and actor best known for his appearances on Def Comedy Jam and In Living Color, has died at the age of 57.
Born on November 30, 1968, in Brooklyn, New York, McFadden built a career in stand-up comedy and television before spending his later years in Tanzania.
Reggie McFadden began gaining national attention in the early 1990s. In 1991, he made his breakthrough appearance on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, which helped establish him as a rising stand-up comedian.
He later moved to Los Angeles and began appearing in television shows including Martin, Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, Moesha and Coach.
McFadden became particularly known for his work on the Fox sketch-comedy series In Living Color. He appeared during the show’s fifth and final season from 1993 to 1994, performing multiple characters in sketches including “Wheel of Dozens” and “All Up in the Family.”
His other acting credits included the films Jacob’s Ladder, The Inkwell and Little Nicky. He also appeared in Getting Personal and had a role as Officer Burt, Larry David’s neighbor, on Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Beyond acting, McFadden continued performing stand-up and appeared on programs including Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Late Show with David Letterman, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn and Last Call with Carson Daly. He also performed regularly at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and had a comedy special on Comedy Central.
Later in life, McFadden lived in Tanzania and was associated with Olduvai Records, an entertainment and gold-mining company. He also released the album ENJOY, Vol. 1 in 2025.
Reggie McFadden is survived by his two sons, Jaron and Myles. His surviving family members also include his mother, Vivian, sisters Bernice and Misty, and brother Kris.
