Adela Gleijer, the celebrated Uruguayan-born actress whose career spanned theatre, television and film in both Uruguay and Argentina, died on January 20, 2026 at the age of 92, her passing confirmed by the Asociación Argentina de Actores y Actrices in an official statement expressing deep sorrow and condolences to her family and loved ones.
Gleijer was born on September 20, 1933 in Montevideo, Uruguay and began her acting journey in 1956 at Teatro El Galpón, one of Uruguay’s most respected theatre companies, where she debuted in El centroforward murió al amanecer and met her future husband, actor Juan Manuel Tenuta.
She later moved to Argentina, where she built a prolific career on stage, screen and television.
