Alejandra Oliveras – Early life
She born in El Carmen, Jujuy, and raised in Córdoba, Alejandra grew up in severe poverty as one of seven siblings. She worked from a young age, at times in rural fields, often barefoot and deprived. She became a mother at 15 and endured severe domestic violence, which became the catalyst for her turning to boxing for self‑defense.
Alejandra Oliveras – Career
Alejandra Oliveras began her professional boxing career on 12 August 2005 in Córdoba with a knockout victory over María del Carmen Potenza. In May 2006, she made history by defeating Jackie Nava in Tijuana to claim the WBC super-bantamweight title, becoming the first Argentine woman to win a world boxing title abroad. She successfully defended the belt before losing it to Marcela “La Tigresa” Acuña in December 2008. Oliveras went on to capture the WBA lightweight title in August 2011 by defeating Liliana Palmera, and in January 2012, she became the WBO featherweight champion after beating Jessica Villafranca, defending that title five times. In October 2013, she added the WBC super lightweight title to her accolades with a victory over Lely Luz Flórez. She later won two more titles under the WPC, with her final world title secured in May 2019. Over her career, she fought 38 bouts, achieving 33 wins (16 by knockout), 3 losses, and 2 draws. In 2015, Oliveras was recognized by Guinness World Records as the first boxer to win world titles in four different weight divisions. Though she officially retired in 2017, some sources suggest she continued competing under WPC until 2019.
