Marriage and family
Dalys Dawson married Col Joye in 1970 during a joint, ultra-private ceremony in Fiji, held simultaneously with Col’s sister Carol and her partner, Sandy Scott. Only six guests reportedly attended. The couple has two children: Amber Jacobsen (daughter) and Clayton Jacobsen (son).
Husband’s Career & Legacy
Col Joye became the first Australian rock singer to hit No. 1 nationally, with his 1959 hit “Oh Yeah Uh Huh,” and enjoyed multiple chart successes throughout the early era of Australian rock & roll.
Later, with his brother Kevin, he co‑founded Jacobsen Entertainment/ATA, playing a key role in promoting Australian music and launching acts like the Bee Gees and Andy Gibb. He received national honors including the Member of the Order of Australia (1981) and induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame (1988).
Husband ‘s death
Her husband passed away on 5 August 2025, aged 89, after an extraordinary seven‑decade career in music. His death was confirmed by his family and widely mourned by Australia’s music community. Fellow artists like Normie Rowe remembered Joye as “a guiding light” in the industry, affectionately calling him “the true gentleman of the industry.”
