She wrote, “It is with a heavy heart I have to tell you my incredible son Balin Miller died during a climbing accident today. My heart is chattered in a million pieces. I don’t know how I will get through this…

Miller was attempting to retrieve a stuck gear bag on the Sea of Dreams route when the accident occurred. Unaware that his rope was too short, he rappelled off the end, falling from just below the summit. Heartbreakingly, the incident was livestreamed on TikTok, with approximately 500 viewers witnessing the fall in real-time.
Known as a rising star in the climbing world, Miller had accomplished remarkable feats, including solo ascents of the Slovak Direct on Denali and the French Connection on Mount Hunter. His skill and determination earned him comparisons to climbing legends such as Alex Honnold.
Miller’s climbing journey began at the tender age of three under the guidance of his father. Over the years, he pursued his passion with unwavering dedication, funding his expeditions through seasonal work as a crab fisherman and in mining in Alaska.
