He also worked as a manager and the director of the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup international youth tournament. He worked as a coach of the National Professional Soccer League in 1967 and later served in a dual capacity as the team’s general manager as well. He joined Queens Park Rangers as a coach and became manager in January 1971. He was appointed as manager of Millwall. He also served as executive director of the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup. In 2005, he became a charter member of the FC Dallas Walk of Fame, and he became one of six men named to the 2013 class of the Indoor Soccer Hall of Fame. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup.

Gordon Jago was married to June Isabella Jago, who was a London police officer. The couple had a daughter named Kim. His wife June died on 8 December 2014. His autobiography, A Soccer Pioneer: The Autobiography of Gordon Jago, was published in March 2017.
