He born in Culiacán, Sinaloa, on September 16, 1986, Barajas formed Enigma Norteño in 2004. The band quickly rose to prominence with hits like “El Deportivo,” “Los Lujos del R,” and “El Mayito Gordo.” Their music, often categorized as narcocorridos, narrates stories related to drug cartels and organized crime. Enigma Norteño’s raw and unfiltered lyrics resonated with many, propelling them to international fame. The band collaborated with artists such as Regulo Caro, Grupo Codiciado, and Fuerza Regida, further solidifying their place in the regional Mexican music scene.
Barajas’s involvement in the narcocorrido genre attracted both admiration and controversy. In 2023, the band received a narcomanta a banner used by cartels to convey messages allegedly from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The message warned Barajas to cease performing songs about their activities. This threat led to the cancellation of their performance at the Feria de Rosarito in Baja California.
