According to FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker, Firefighter Brady suffered a cardiac arrest while operating on the roof of a burning building at 9407 Kings Highway in Brooklyn. Fellow firefighters and EMS personnel immediately provided emergency care before rushing him to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Firefighter Brady dedicated 11 years of service to the FDNY. He was appointed to the department on July 14, 2014, and after completing his training at the Fire Academy, he began his career with Engine 227 in Brooklyn. In 2022, he transferred to Ladder 120, continuing his commitment to protecting the lives and property of New Yorkers.
His passing marks the 1,163rd line-of-duty death in the FDNY’s history — a solemn reminder of the risks firefighters take every day. The last member of the department to die in the line of duty was Paramedic Salih Abdur Rahman.
Funeral arrangements for Firefighter Patrick Brady are pending. The FDNY community and the city at large are honoring his service, bravery, and sacrifice in the line of duty.
