Brad Branson, the former Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers forward/center, has died at the age of 67, according to Hoops Wire. He passed away recently, and no official cause of death has been released by his family or representatives.
Branson was a 6-foot-10 American basketball player from Harvey, Illinois who made his way into the NBA after being selected in the second round of the 1980 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons.
He played two seasons in the league — first with the Cleveland Cavaliers (1981-82) and then the Indiana Pacers (1982-83) — before carving out a long professional career overseas.
Beyond the NBA, he starred in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) where he earned Newcomer of the Year, All-Star honors, led the league in blocks, and was MVP of the All-Star Game, and also played for club teams in Italy and Spain including Real Madrid and Pamesa Valencia, extending his playing career into the mid-1990s.
