Gary England’s wife, Mary England biography: Mary England is known as wife of Meteorologist and television executive Gary England. Her husband Gary England died on June 10, 2025 at the age of 85.
His family shared, “We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved Gary England passed this evening. Gary passed peacefully on the evening of June 10th, surrounded by his loved ones… Gary was proud to have protected Oklahoma from its deadliest storms. He will be deeply and forever missed.”
Chief Meteorologist at KWTV, David Payne wrote, “There will only ever be one Gary England – an Oklahoman through and through… He was one of a kind and the impact he had on our state, meteorology and severe weather prediction and tracking will be felt for years and years to come.”
They had a daughter named Molly. Her husband born on October 3, 1939 in Seiling, Oklahoma, U.S. He also served as chief meteorologist for KWTV-DT.
She is also known as née Smith. His parents were Hazel and Lesley England. He grew up in Seiling but his some time spent in Enid.
When he was a child that made him really interested in weather.
The most unforgettable moment for him was a huge tornado in 1947. It hit nearby towns and destroyed a place called Woodward, where over 100 people died.
That scary event, and other weather like tornadoes, snowstorms, dust storms, heavy rain, floods, and fires, made him want to learn more about how weather happens and he became a meteorologist.

He graduated from high school in England then he joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and learnt about weather seriously.
He graduated in 1965 with a B.S. in mathematics and meteorology from the University of Oklahoma.
He served his first job in KTOK as broadcaster. He also worked for KWTV on October 16, 1972.
He also served as Vice President for Corporate Relations and Weather Development for Griffin Communications and left job in KWTV in 2013.
He received various awards including Oklahoma Hall of Fame Inductee (2003), Emmy Award Winner, Silver Circle Emmy Award, American Meteorological Society (AMS) Broadcaster of the Year, Governor’s Humanitarian Award and National Weather Association (NWA) Broadcaster of the Year.
