Gary Lee Seacrest, father of television and radio personality Ryan Seacrest, has passed away after a long battle with prostate cancer. Ryan shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram on October 31, 2025, writing that his father “peacefully passed away earlier this week.” He added that he, his mother, and sister find comfort knowing Gary is “in a better place and free of any pain or suffering,” while expressing that the family is heartbroken.
Practiced law after military service
Gary Lee Seacrest led a distinguished life both in the military and civilian sectors. He served as a lieutenant in the United States Army before pursuing a career as a real-estate lawyer in Atlanta. Beyond his professional achievements, he played a pivotal role in shaping his son Ryan’s career, instilling a strong work ethic and supporting his early interest in broadcasting. In recent years, Gary courageously fought prostate cancer, which at one point led to complications such as pneumonia and a stay in the ICU. Gary Lee Seacrest is survived by his wife, Constance “Connie” Seacrest, and their children, Ryan and Meredith Seacrest. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Flora, through Meredith.
