Zimbabwean journalist and human rights activist Geoffrey Nyarota passed away on 23 March 2025 at the age of 74 due to illness in Harare.
He was famous for exposing the Willogate vehicle scam involving ministers and top government officials.
He born in Southern Rhodesia (today Zimbabwe) and he was founder of Daily News. He wrote the book “The Honorable Minister” and that book exposed the anatomy of endemic corruption in the country.
He received two honorable awards including
Golden Pen of Freedom Award and UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize.
