A Five-Decade Career in Film and Television
Benz Hui’s acting career spanned more than 50 years, beginning in the 1970s with early appearances on TVB. Known for his versatility, he earned a reputation as one of Hong Kong’s most dependable supporting actors, often playing cops, villains, and mentors with effortless charm.
He became a household name for his iconic portrayal of Foon Hei Gor, the complex undercover boss in the hit drama series “Line Walker” (2014–2020). The role not only revived his career among younger audiences but also earned him the affectionate title “King of Supporting Actors” in the Hong Kong entertainment industry.
Beyond television, Hui appeared in numerous hit films such as Infernal Affairs II, Running Out of Time, and Love Undercover. His natural acting style and humble personality made him one of the most respected veteran figures in Hong Kong cinema.
In recent years, Hui had been semi-retired, spending more time with his family in Singapore while occasionally appearing at public events and talk shows.
Benz Hui was born on November 4, 1948, in British Hong Kong. He is survived by his wife, Angeli Lung, and their daughter, Charmaine Hui.
