Ethan Browne, the actor, model and musician, has passed away at the age of 52. His father, singer-songwriter Jackson Browne, confirmed the news, stating that Ethan was found unresponsive in his home on the morning of November 25, 2025, and was later pronounced dead.
Throughout his life, Ethan Browne built a multi-faceted career across acting, modeling, and music. His first appearance in the public eye came early, when he featured as a baby alongside his father on the cover of Rolling Stone in 1974. As an adult, he went on to act in films such as Hackers (1995) and Raising Helen (2004), and also made a television appearance in the series Birds of Prey. Alongside acting, he pursued modeling and worked with designers including Isaac Mizrahi. Later in his career, Ethan expanded into the music industry, founding Spinside Records, a sub-label under his father’s independent record label, demonstrating his continued connection to the creative world.
Ethan Browne is survived by his father, Jackson Browne, and his younger half-brother, Ryan Browne, born from Jackson’s second marriage. Ethan was the only child of Jackson Browne and his first wife, Phyllis Major, who died in 1976 when Ethan was a young child. Reflecting on his son’s life, Jackson Browne described Ethan as “a great father, a great son, a great man,” highlighting the deep affection and pride the family held for him.
