Makiko Kumano is a Japanese artist. She is known as the wife of Jacques Charrier, a French actor, film producer, and painter, who passed away on 3 September 2025 at the age of 88 in Saint-Briac-sur-Mer, France. He is survived by his wife Makiko Kumano and his four children: Nicolas-Jacques Charrier, Sophie, Marie, and Rosalie.
Jacques Charrier married four times. He married for the first time to Brigitte Bardot in 1959 and separated in 1962. They had a son named Nicolas-Jacques Charrier. After divorcing Brigitte Bardot, he married France Louis-Dreyfus in 1964 and divorced in 1967. They had two daughters, Sophie and Marie. In 1982, he married his third wife, Linda, with whom he had one daughter named Rosalie. His final wife was Japanese artist Makiko Kumano, whom he married in 2009.
Jacques Charrier built a diverse career as an actor, producer, and later visual artist. He debuted in Les Tricheurs (1958) and quickly rose to fame with films like Babette Goes to War (1959), The Third Lover (1962), and Anatomy of a Marriage (1963), while also appearing in international projects such as Carmen 63 and Winter Wind. Alongside acting, he produced films including Sirocco d’hiver (1969), Églantine (1970), and the documentary Dreyfus ou l’intolérable vérité (1975), in which he also served as narrator.
