Morgan was the daughter of musicians Olga and Bertram Currier, growing up among five siblings in a home steeped in music. Returning to New York by the mid‑1950s, Morgan signed with Kapp Records. Her album The American Girl from Paris (1956) introduced her U.S. career. In 1957, her cover of “Fascination” became a major hit, spending months on the charts and selling millions. She also scored hits like “The Day the Rains Came.”
Broadway & Television
Morgan moved gracefully into musicals including Can‑Can, Kiss Me Kate, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, The King and I, Bells Are Ringing, Anniversary Waltz, and Hello, Dolly. Morgan divorced her first husband Larry Stith in 1964. In 1965, she married her manager Jerry Weintraub, who was more than a decade younger; the couple later adopted three daughters and she became stepmother to his son Michael. They separated in the 1980s but never divorced, later reconciling. Weintraub passed away in 2015.
At the height of her career, she transitioned into philanthropic work, co-founding the Jane and Jerry Weintraub Center for Reconstructive Biotechnology at UCLA, and supporting arts and charitable causes. In 2011 she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Later Life & Death
