He worked as a track & field coach at Baylor University.
Clyde Hart’s legacy is monumental. He began coaching the Baylor Bears’ track & field program in 1963 and served as head coach for 42 years before stepping into a director role in 2005. Under his guidance, Baylor earned the nickname “Quarter Miler U” because of its dominance in the 400-metre event.

His program produced 34 national champions, 561 All-America performances, and numerous world-record efforts, cementing his place among the greatest coaches in track history.
Clyde Hart is survived by his wife, Maxine Hart (née Barton), who served as a professor at Baylor, their two sons, Greg and Scott, as well as grandchildren Ryan, Mason and Kennedy Ann.
