Mika Immonen, the Finnish professional pool player famously known as “The Iceman,” passed away on September 28, 2025, at the age of 52 in a New York hospital. Immonen had been battling stage 4 colon cancer since 2023 and continued to compete in tournaments despite his illness, showcasing his dedication and resilience.
Mezz Cues wrote on Instagram, “Your courage, and never ending fighting spirit is something you brought from the very beginning of your career, all the way to the long fight you had over the last few years. We will always remember you as a professional, as a fighter, and a dear friend. Farewell Mika, we will all miss you. R.I.P. Mika Immonen.”
Immonen’s career was decorated with multiple world titles, including the 2001 WPA World Nine-ball Championship and the 2009 WPA World Ten-ball Championship. He was also a 13-time representative of Team Europe in the Mosconi Cup and was inducted into the Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame in 2014.
