The Floyd County Coroner has confirmed that Rondale Moore has died at the age of 25. Authorities say Moore was found Saturday at a residence in the 1600 block of Ekin Avenue in New Albany, Indiana.
According to New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey, officers responded to the home and discovered Moore deceased inside a garage. Investigators believe the cause was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The case remains under investigation, and officials have not released additional details. An autopsy has been scheduled.
Moore was widely recognized as one of the most dynamic athletes to come out of southern Indiana. A standout at New Albany High School, he helped lead the Bulldogs to a basketball state championship before transferring to Trinity High School in Louisville, where he contributed to the Shamrocks’ 2016 Class 6A football state title. In 2017, he was named Kentucky’s Gatorade Player of the Year and received the prestigious Paul Hornung Award.
He went on to star at Purdue University under head coach Jeff Brohm. As a freshman, Moore became a national sensation and earned All-American honors.
His performance in Purdue’s 2018 upset victory over then–No. 2 Ohio State — highlighted by 12 catches for 170 yards and two touchdowns — remains one of the most memorable games in program history. Brohm described Moore as a fierce competitor with unmatched work ethic and a teammate who brought energy and positivity wherever he went.
Moore was selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals and spent three seasons with the franchise. He later joined the Atlanta Falcons before signing with the Minnesota Vikings in 2025. Injuries limited portions of his professional career, including a season-ending knee injury during the Vikings’ preseason in 2025.
