Simon Philibert is a 31 year old News Anchor, Entrepreneur and Host of Salut Bonjour. He is Founder & CEO of Embargo. Currently he is working as Newsreader on Salut Bonjour (TVA) and lives in Baie-Comeau, Quebec, Canada.
Early Life and Passion for Media
Born and raised in Baie-Comeau, Simon Philibert showed a love for media and events from a very young age. At just 3 or 4 years old, he was already organizing shows in his basement, selling tickets to guests. By the time he was 12, he had launched a small mobile DJ business an early sign of his entrepreneurial spirit.
Though his parents, both civil servants, encouraged a more “secure” path in administration, Simon never let go of his dream to work in media. He initially pursued business in college but later pivoted toward broadcasting, enrolling in communication and media courses that would change his life.
Career Breakthrough in Television
Simon’s first major break came in 2017, when a teacher at Promédia recognized his talent and encouraged him to submit a demo reel to TVA. This led to his first job at TVA Rivière-du-Loup as a field reporter. In January 2018, he became a regional correspondent for Salut Bonjour, a role he held until the COVID-19 pandemic paused his progress.
He returned in mid-2020, contributing again to TVA and Salut Bonjour, including temporary news anchor roles at LCN and TVA. His big moment came in 2025, when he officially became the permanent newsreader of Salut Bonjour, succeeding Philippe-Vincent Foisy.
Entrepreneurial Ventures: Embargo
In parallel with his media career, Simon founded and continues to lead Embargo, an event production company that began as a mobile disco service for weddings and parties. Originally called Productions SMP, the company now employs around 50 people and runs multiple creative projects—including the live music show C’est quoi ta toune?, where audiences vote for songs performed live by artists.
Simon’s business background has helped him bridge both worlds: entertainment and entrepreneurship.
Other Hosting Roles: À vos affaires
In addition to his anchoring duties, Simon also hosted À vos affaires on LCN, a business and economy show, for two years following Pierre-Olivier Zappa’s departure. The program allowed him to promote financial literacy and entrepreneurship across Quebec. He left the show in June 2025 to focus full-time on Salut Bonjour.
Personal Life
Simon has been in a relationship with Charles-Olivier for over three years. The couple met online and later discovered their shared academic background and mutual friends. They enjoy traveling—visiting the Bahamas and London recently—and try to escape work when possible.
In his free time, Simon is an avid cyclist, a hobby he developed during the pandemic. He participated in the Grand défi Pierre Lavoie with the Quebecor team in June 2025.
Legacy and Inspiration
Despite his unconventional path, Simon Philibert has become a respected figure in Quebec’s media landscape. His story reflects a blend of passion, persistence, and entrepreneurial hustle—proving that dreams, no matter how distant they seem, are achievable with dedication and belief.
