Terry Boers, the longtime Chicago sports radio personality and one of the original voices of 670 The Score, has died at the age of 75. The station confirmed his passing on January 23, 2026, saying he died surrounded by loved ones.
Chicago’s No. 1 and most listened to sports radio station, 670thescore wrote on Instagram, “It’s with a heavy heart that we share the sad news that the great Terry Boers passed away today. He was a one-of-a-kind Score original who we’ll remember forever. We love you, Terry. RIP.”
Boers’ career in media spanned more than 40 years. Before becoming a radio star, he spent roughly 20 years as a sports journalist, including a role as a sports columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times and stints at publications like the Lansing Sun Journal and Detroit Free Press.
He helped launch 670 The Score in 1992 and remained a central figure there for 25 years, most notably as co-host of the popular “Boers & Bernstein” sports talk show alongside Dan Bernstein. The program became iconic in Chicago, blending humor, sharp analysis, and spirited debate, making Boers one of the most recognizable voices in sports radio before his retirement in 2017.
He is survived by his daughter Shelby Duffy and her family, who shared in his life and memories, as well as other close family members who mourn his loss. Tributes from colleagues, listeners, and the wider sports community highlighted his wit, generosity, and the impact he had on sports broadcasting.
