Veteran actor Satish Shah passed away on October 25, 2025, at the age of 74. The actor, best known for his iconic role as Indravadhan Sarabhai in the hit sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, breathed his last at Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai, reportedly due to kidney failure.
According to hospital sources, Shah was found unresponsive at his Bandra East residence around 2:30 pm and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. He had been battling kidney-related complications for several months and had undergone treatment in recent weeks.
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit announced his death news on Instagram and wrote, “Sad and shocked to inform you that our dear friend and a great actor Satish Shah has expired few hours ago due to kidney failure.”
He added, “Satish Shah’s last remains will be at his house from 10 am to 11 am on 26th October.

His last rites will be performed at Pawan Hans cremation ground S.V.Road (Vile Parle ( W). Mumbai at 12. Pm”

Born on June 25, 1951, in Mumbai, Satish Shah carved a niche for himself as one of Bollywood’s most reliable character actors. A graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, he began his acting journey in the late 1970s.
He gained national recognition for his memorable comic timing in films such as Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983), Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994), Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994), and Main Hoon Na (2004). His effortless blend of humor and warmth made him a household name.
However, it was Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, which aired in the early 2000s, that turned him into a pop culture icon. His portrayal of the witty and mischievous Indravadhan Sarabhai remains etched in the hearts of millions of viewers.
Apart from television and films, Shah was also deeply involved in theater and social causes. He worked in more than 200 films and numerous TV shows, leaving behind an unparalleled legacy in Indian comedy.
He married to Madhu Shah
Satish Shah is survived by his wife Madhu Shah, who has been his constant support through all ups and downs. The couple married in 1972 and shared a strong bond built on love and understanding. Madhu Shah, a well-known interior designer, often accompanied Satish to public events and film premieres.
