The Marathi entertainment industry is mourning the loss of veteran actress Jyoti Chandekar, who passed away in Pune on Friday at the age of 68. The news of her demise was confirmed by her daughter, actress Tejaswini Pandit, who shared an emotional note on social media along with details of the funeral.
Chandekar, fondly remembered as Purna Aaji from the hit television show Tharala Tar Mag, had been actively working until recently, leaving her fans shocked at the sudden news. Social media platforms were flooded with tributes from colleagues, admirers, and audiences who grew up watching her on stage and screen.
Jyoti Chandekar’s career spanned more than five decades, beginning in Hindi cinema before she became a beloved figure in Marathi films, theater, and television.
