A Los Angeles County judge on 29 October 2025 sentenced David Brian Pearce to 146 years to life in state prison after his conviction on two counts of first-degree murder and multiple counts of sexual assault. The sentencing follows a jury verdict delivered in February 2025, which found Pearce guilty in the drug-facilitated deaths of 24-year-old model Christy Giles and 26-year-old architect Hilda Marcela Cabrales‑Arzola — both of whom died after being administered fentanyl and GHB at a Beverly Hills apartment in November 2021.
Pearce was also found guilty of three counts of forcible rape, one count of sexual penetration by force, one count of sodomy by force, and one count of rape of an unconscious person — charges brought by seven other women whose assaults allegedly occurred between 2007 and 2021.
Who is David Brian Pearce?
Prior to his arrest and conviction, Pearce had presented himself as a Hollywood-industry “producer” and nightlife figure in Los Angeles social circles. Investigators found that despite his claims of being a producer or doctor, he had no verifiable production credits and appears to have leveraged his social access to parties and entertainment-industry events to approach young women.
According to court records, on the night of 13 November 2021, Pearce and his acquaintance met Giles and Cabrales-Arzola at a warehouse party in East Los Angeles. About two hours later, the women were taken to Pearce’s Beverly Hills residence where he is accused of administering GHB and fentanyl. The women were then transported unconscious and dropped off separately at two hospitals. Giles was pronounced dead on arrival; Cabrales-Arzola died 11 days later after life-support was withdrawn.

The case drew attention not only because of the severity of the sentence but also because it illustrated patterns of drug-facilitated sexual assault and predation under the guise of entertainment-industry glamour. Prosecutors described Pearce as a long-time predator whose façade allowed years of alleged abuse to occur.
