Hakham Muhammad Issa Al-Issa was a senior figure in Hamas’ military wing who was killed in Gaza City in an airstrike in Sabra on Friday, according to the IDF statement.
He was a member of Hamas’ General Security Council. He served as head of the combat support headquarters, and he also worked on force-buildup efforts in the Gaza Strip.
The IDF said his significant role was in the planning and execution of the brutal October 7th massacre, and he also helped plan attacks on Israeli civilians and IDF troops operating in the Gaza Strip.
He was rebuilding Hamas’ organizational systems after they were damaged by Israel during the war.
“Wahbi was responsible for intelligence in Hezbollah’s ‘Radwan Force’ Battalion,” the IDF said.
“Eliminated Hakham Muhammad Issa Al-Issa… Issa led Hamas’ force build-up, training, and planned the October 7 massacre. As Head of Combat Support, he advanced aerial and naval attacks against Israelis. The IDF and ISA will continue to locate and eliminate all terrorists involved in the October 7 massacre.”
The Israel Defense Forces called him “one of the founders of Hamas’ military wing.”
