Hank Winchester Biography: Hank Winchester is an American journalist and television personality, best known for his role as a Consumer Investigative Reporter and Anchor at WDIV-TV (Local 4 News) in Detroit, Michigan. His home was searched by police on June 13, 2025, following allegations of unwanted sexual advances during a message.
“We are aware of an external investigation involving Hank Winchester. Currently, he is on administrative leave. To respect his privacy, there is no further comment at this time,” the station stated.
“Hank has spent decades bringing truth to our community and fighting for our citizens,” Winchester’s attorney, Todd Flood, said.
Currently, Hank Winchester serves as the “Help Me Hank” reporter, a role in which he actively works to protect viewers from scams and fraud.
He graduated from Michigan State University in broadcast journalism. He worked at stations in Miami and Flint, covering major national stories, hurricanes, and crime. He joined WDIV-TV (an NBC affiliate) in 2001 and initially worked as a general assignment reporter; however, he was later promoted.
According to his statement, he is gay and married to Jeff Grim, a college professor.
They have a daughter named Emma Rose, whom they adopted.
