Hollywood legend Kelsey Grammer has spent decades in the spotlight, his wife Kayte Walsh Grammer has remained one of the most private and grounded figures in his life.
Their love story began high above the clouds, when Grammer met Walsh then a flight attendant during a transatlantic flight to London. What started as an unexpected encounter turned into one of the most enduring love stories in Hollywood.
Now, more than a decade after their marriage, the couple have quietly expanded their family once again — welcoming their fourth child together and Kelsey’s eighth overall in October 2025.
A Love That Began in the Sky
Their paths first crossed in December 2009, when Kayte Walsh was working as a Virgin Atlantic flight attendant on a flight to London. Among the passengers that day was Kelsey Grammer, best known for his iconic role as Dr. Frasier Crane in Cheers and Frasier.
Grammer later described the meeting as “very romantic.” Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2012, he recalled:
“We went out for coffee several days later and had this magical night in the snow in London around Christmastime.”
Less than two years later, the two tied the knot on February 25, 2011, in an intimate ceremony at The Plaza Hotel in New York City.
Kayte became Kelsey’s fourth wife, but the actor has often said their marriage feels completely new.
“It’s like it’s never happened before,” he told People after their wedding. “My life with Kayte is fantastic.”
When asked about the best part of their relationship, Kelsey said, “Waking up together,” to which Kayte added, “And going to bed together. He’s just perfect.”
Family, Loss, and a New Beginning
Kayte Walsh was born in Bristol, England, to Alan Walsh, a former professional footballer for Bristol City, and Susan Walsh. Before meeting Kelsey, she lived a quiet life, working as a flight attendant — a path that unexpectedly led her to love.
Together, Kayte and Kelsey have welcomed four children:
- Faith Evangeline Elisa Grammer — born July 13, 2012. Their first child was a blessing after heartbreak, as they tragically lost Faith’s twin brother during pregnancy.
- Kelsey Gabriel Elias Grammer (known as Gabriel) born July 22, 2014.
- Auden James Ellis Grammer — born November 14, 2016.
- Christopher Grammer — born October 2025, their latest addition and Kelsey’s eighth child overall.
- Kelsey shared the joyful news of Christopher’s birth on the Pod Meets World podcast, saying:
“He’s perfect. We’re thrilled, and Kayte is just incredible.” - From his previous relationships, Kelsey is also father to Spencer, Greer, Mason, and Jude Grammer — making him a father of eight children across four decades.
Life Beyond Fame
When Kelsey and Kayte first met, the actor was still married to his third wife, Camille Grammer. Their romance began during the final stages of that marriage — something both later addressed with honesty.
In a 2012 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Kayte admitted:
“I’m not proud of the way we started out because he was in a marriage. But I fell in love. I don’t know how to put it into words.”
Kelsey added that his marriage to Camille “had been over for a long time” before he found the courage to end it. Despite controversy, the couple stayed strong and went on to build a peaceful family life.
In 2012, Kelsey even got his first tattoo Kayte’s name inked near his waistline.
“It was an ownership thing,” he told Conan O’Brien. “If ever I thought a peccadillo outside marriage was a good idea, whoever might see that piece of equipment would know it’s already signed and owned by Kayte.”
Kayte briefly appeared on Kelsey’s political drama Boss in 2011, portraying a senator’s aide, and has supported him through major milestones — including his 2025 memoir Karen: A Brother Remembers, written in memory of his late sister.
Today, Kayte and Kelsey split their time between Los Angeles and New York, raising their children away from the Hollywood chaos. Kelsey often credits her for grounding his life, saying:
