Who is Olu Evans?
Olu Evans, a New York-based attorney, graduated from Emory University School of Law and is a registered lawyer in New York. He first met Copeland in 2004 at a club in Chelsea, New York, and later became her first boyfriend. The couple married on July 31, 2016, in Laguna Beach, California, a year after Copeland became ABT’s first Black principal dancer. Evans is also a cousin of actor Taye Diggs.
Family Life and Support
Copeland and Evans share a son, Jackson, born in April 2022. Over the years, Copeland has praised Evans for his unwavering support, not only as a partner but also as someone who helped her navigate personal challenges and build confidence. She has shared that Evans encouraged her to take care of herself and treat her body as an instrument, boosting her self-assurance as a dancer. Copeland credits him with helping her face difficulties with clarity and believe in her own potential.
