Brian Anthony Browning biography: Brian Anthony Browning was a 31-year-old man from Romulus, Michigan. He has been identified as the suspect in the Michigan church shooting, who attended with his mother. According to a police statement, he had no prior criminal record or law enforcement contact.
Around 11:06 a.m., Brian Anthony Browning drove erratically into the parking lot wearing camouflage and a tactical vest.
He had an AR‑15–style rifle, a semiautomatic handgun with an extended magazine, multiple loaded magazines, and hundreds of rounds in his vehicle.
He began to open fire outside the building, and one security guard was injured in the leg. Now, he is in stable condition after surgery.
A churchgoer used his pickup truck to ram Browning so that he would stop. The church’s trained security team locked the front doors and shot Browning. Police found additional rifles, handguns, and large amounts of ammunition in Brian Anthony Browning’s home.
“The suspect’s mother is a member of the church, where he has attended church services two or three times over the last year.”
“He may have been suffering a mental health crisis,” police said.
“We weren’t thinking that those were shots until one of our security came in and told us to get out. That’s when we began exiting the building.”
“He was only a few feet from the front of the church,” Senior Pastor Bobby Kelly Jr. said.
