Malini Fonseka died: Sri Lankan actress, Malini Fonseka died on 24 May 2025 in Colombo, Sri Lanka at the age of 78 and she was hospitalised.
Her full name was Wanni Arachchige Malini Senehelatha Fonseka who born on 30 April 1947 in Peliyagoda, Kelaniya, British Colony of Ceylon. In 1968, she began her acting career and worked in Tissa Liyansooriya’s Punchi Baba as actress. She won Slim Nielsen Peoples’ Award for the Most Popular Actress thirteen times .
She started her career as stage dramas in Noratha Ratha” in 1963 and played the lead role in 14 stage dramas. In 1968, he won a national award for Best Stage Drama Actress. She debuted with Tissa Liyansuriya’s Punchi Baba film released on 1968. She worked around 140 movies. She also worked with Indian Tamil actor Sivaji Ganeshan in Pilot Premnath film released on 1978.
She also received Most Popular Lady awards two times and Best Actress awards five times. She also worked as director in several movies.
Her father was Gilbert Fonseka and mother was Seelwathie Fonseka.
She married two times. First time, she married with Upali Senanayake in 1965 and separated in 1973. In 1986, she married with Lucky Dias and separated in 2011. She has three sisters named Sriyani, Rasadari, Damayanthi and two brothers named Dayananda and Ananda.
