Jorge Humberto Figueroa was key member of the “Los Chapitos” criminal organization. He died during an military operation in Mexican state of Sinaloa on May 23, 2025. Operation aimed to capture him, but a shootout with his armed group led to his death. He born on September 2, 1989, in Culiacán, Sinaloa.
He was wanted by the U.S. DEA for fentanyl trafficking, illegal possession of machine guns and explosives, and money laundering. A $1 million reward was offered for information leading to his capture and arreste.
Jorge Figueroa also worked as chief bodyguard of Néstor Isidro Pérez Salas.
On July 25, 2024, he was involved in the kidnapping of people close to rival cartel leader El Mayo Zambada.
On October 17, 2019, the government tried to arrest Ovidio Guzmán López, a powerful drug lord, in the city of Culiacán. When this happened, Jorge Humberto Figueroa quickly took charge and led a group of heavily armed men to fight back.
The attack was so intense and violent that the police and military were forced to retreat. The situation became so dangerous that the government decided to release Ovidio to avoid more bloodshed and protect civilians.
