Tomasi was struck in the leg by a police-fired rubber bullet, she said, “I’m good.”
She is serving as the U.S. correspondent for Nine News Australia based in Los Angeles. She completed her journalism degree from the University of New South Wales.
On the camera recording, The bullet hit her calf while she was on air, visibly causing pain. A bystander was heard shouting, “You just f—— shot the reporter!”.
Nine News’s employer said, “This incident is a stark reminder of the dangers journalists face in the field.”
Australian Greens Senator Sarah Hanson‑Young said, “This is completely unacceptable. U.S. authorities must explain why an Australian journalist was shot while doing her job.”

She completed her Bachelor of Media and Communication from UNSW, and a Bachelor of Broadcast Journalism from University of Colorado Boulder. She trained in the National Institute of Dramatic Art.
