John Noone died: British writer John Noone died on 2025 at the age of 89. his first novel was The Man With the Chocolate Egg became popular and in which the main character was a British soldier.
He born on 1936 in Darlington, County Durham and graduated from King’s College, Newcastle in English degree.
He won the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize in 1967 for novel The Man with the Chocolate Egg.
His second novel was The Night of Accomplishment. He was known for The Man Behind the Iron Mask (first published in 1988 and revised several times since), and Turtle Tortoise, Image and Symbol. He worked in the Suez Canal Zone as part of his National Service then he returned to Egypt in 1961 and taught at Alexandria University.
He worked in Libya, Japan and France.
He is survived by his wife, Isabelle, biological daughter, and his stepdaughters, Nochenka and Cynthia.
