She hadn’t paid rent for several months, so the court issued an eviction order. When the police and a court bailiff arrived to carry out the eviction, they noticed a strong foul smell coming from the locked apartment. Suspicious, they forced the door open, and what they found inside was shocking. Her body was lying there, badly decomposed, suggesting she had been dead for quite some time.
When police reached the apartment, they found that all the doors and windows, even the balcony, were locked from the inside. There were no signs of anyone breaking in or any fight, so it didn’t look like a murder at first.
Her body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where doctors confirmed it was badly decomposed. At first, they thought she had died about 2 to 3 weeks before the body was found.
But later, investigators looked deeper. They checked her phone records, social media, expired food in the kitchen, and other clues. After studying all this, they found out something shocking.
Humaira Asghar had actually died around October 2024, which means her body had been lying in that apartment for nearly 9 months without anyone knowing.
