Andrea Gibson died on July 14, 2025, at the age of 49 in Boulder, Colorado, U.S., after ovarian cancer.
On August 2, 2022, Gibson revealed that she had to cancel her tour because her ovarian cancer, originally diagnosed in August 2021, had returned.
In an Instagram post, Gibson’s wife, Megan Falley, shared, “Over the last four years, they danced with their diagnosis, and continually aimed their internal compass toward joy. One of the last things Andrea said on this plane was, ‘I f***ing loved my life.’”

A San Francisco mother reflected through tears, “My son this morning, when he called, we just sobbed together. He says, ‘Mom, Andrea saved my life.’”
Andrea Gibson’s early life
He was born on August 13, 1975, in Calais, Maine, U.S., and grew up in the same place. After completing his schooling from a local school, he attended Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. He moved to New Orleans with his girlfriend and, in 1999, to Boulder, Colorado.

He published his first book, Pole Dancing to Gospel Hymns, in 2008. He wrote Take Me With You, a book of quotes and phrases, which was also published. His books are Pole Dancing to Gospel Hymns (2008), The Madness Vase (2012), Pansy (2015), Take Me With You (2018), Lord of the Butterflies (2018), How Poetry Can Change Your Heart (2019), and You Better Be Lightning (2021). He was awarded Four-time Denver Grand Slam Champion and Women of the World Poetry Slam Champion 2008.
Personal life
His partner was Megan Falley. He moved with a girlfriend to New Orleans, and in 1999, they settled in Boulder, Colorado, where their spoken-word career began. They got engaged in 2022 and later married.
