Jasveen Sangha, Drug dealer, infamously known as the “Ketamine Queen,” has agreed to plead guilty to five federal charges in a case connected to the fatal overdose of actor Matthew Perry in October 2023. The 42-year-old dual U.S.-U.K. citizen operated a high-end drug distribution network from her North Hollywood residence, supplying powerful substances including ketamine.
Sangha’s plea agreement encompasses one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises, three counts of distribution of ketamine, and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death or serious bodily injury. This development comes after her involvement in several high-profile overdose cases, including the death of Cody McLaury in 2019, to whom she also sold ketamine.
According to federal prosecutors, Sangha supplied 51 vials of ketamine to Perry’s assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, who administered the drug to the actor, ultimately resulting in his death. Following the tragedy, Sangha and her associate Erik Fleming attempted to cover their tracks, deleting communications and discussing strategies to deflect responsibility.
Sangha’s case is notable as she is the fifth and final defendant in the network to accept a plea deal, thereby avoiding a scheduled trial. While she faces a maximum sentence of 45 years in prison, prosecutors may recommend a reduced term depending on cooperation and other mitigating factors. Sentencing dates for all involved parties are expected later this year.
This case highlights the dangers posed by illicit drug distribution networks, particularly their impact on individuals struggling with addiction and those in vulnerable positions. Authorities have emphasized that the Sangha case serves as a warning about the consequences of supplying dangerous substances, even to high-profile clients.
Legal experts have noted that the plea deal could expedite justice and provide a measure of accountability in what has been a high-profile investigation involving the death of a beloved actor. The resolution of this case is being closely watched nationwide, drawing attention to the broader issues of drug abuse, distribution, and federal prosecution.
