Ron Hurst, the former Toronto Maple Leafs ice hockey player and one of the franchise’s oldest living alumni, has died at the age of 95. His death was reported on September 17, 2026.
Hurst was born on May 18, 1931, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He died after a long life connected to hockey and the Toronto community. His cause of death and exact place of death have not been publicly disclosed.

Ron Hurst was a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 1950s.
He began playing junior hockey with the Toronto Marlboros in 1948 and later moved into senior hockey before earning an opportunity in the NHL. Hurst made his NHL debut with the Maple Leafs during the 1955–56 season.
Hurst played 64 NHL games over two seasons with Toronto, scoring 9 goals and recording 16 points. He later continued his professional career in the American Hockey League, including time with Rochester and Hershey.
His playing career eventually came to an end around 1960. In later life, Hurst also worked as a stockbroker and in real estate. He remained closely connected to the Maple Leafs and became known as an important link to an earlier era of Toronto hockey.
Ron Hurst was married to Beryl Hurst, and the couple raised four children. His family also included grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His daughter Megan spoke publicly about him in connection with his later years.
