Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss the team’s upcoming game against the Carolina Panthers on October 18, 2026, after doctors discovered movement in a superficial blood clot in his calf, the Eagles announced on October 15.
According to the team’s official statement, Hurts initially experienced a calf injury during Philadelphia’s game against the Los Angeles Rams on October 4. He received treatment and underwent an ultrasound on October 10, which revealed a superficial blood clot in his leg.
Despite the discovery, medical staff cleared Hurts to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on October 11. He completed 21 of 40 passes for 220 yards and one touchdown in the Eagles’ 19–17 defeat.
However, a follow-up ultrasound on October 14 revealed movement in the clot. Following the results, the Eagles decided to rule out their starting quarterback against Carolina while determining the appropriate treatment.
The team emphasized that Hurts’ health and safety remain its highest priority. Backup quarterback Tanner McKee is expected to start in his place.
