Iconic WMMR radio personality Pierre Robert has passed away at the age of 70. Beasley Media Group, the parent company of WMMR, said that the longtime host Pierre Robert was found deceased at his home in Philadelphia on October 29, 2025.

He worked as a radio host
Born on August 1, 1955, in Truckee, California, Pierre Robert began his broadcasting journey in the 1970s before joining 93.3 WMMR in 1981. Over the next four decades, he became one of the most recognizable voices in Philadelphia radio, hosting the station’s midday show and greeting his loyal listeners with his trademark phrase, “Greetings, Citizens!”
Robert’s program was known for celebrating rock music culture through segments like “Pierre’s Vinyl Cut” and “On This Day in Music.” He wasn’t just a DJ; he was a storyteller, music historian, and friend to countless fans who tuned in daily. His passion for rock and deep connection with listeners made him a Philadelphia institution, affectionately known as the “Mayor of the Airwaves.”
Beyond the studio, Pierre Robert was active in local community initiatives, lending his time and voice to numerous charitable causes, including the AIDS Walk Philadelphia and Manna’s Pie in the Sky fundraiser.
