He began his career as a defender for FC Metz in the early 1960s, playing for the team from 1960 to 1967. After hanging up his boots, Husson transitioned to coaching and returned to the club as head coach in 1984, marking the start of one of the most memorable eras in Metz history.
Under his leadership, FC Metz achieved legendary status with their historic 4–1 victory over FC Barcelona at Camp Nou in 1984 — one of the greatest European upsets in football history.
