Belgian musician Paul Van Bruystegem, best known by his stage names “Lange Polle” and “Monsieur Paul,” has passed away at the age of 66 after a long illness. The sad news was confirmed by his friend Ruben Block who is former bandmates from the rock group Triggerfinger.
Ruben Block wrote on Instagram, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend and companion Paul Van Bruystegem, Monsieur Paul, Lange Polle, after battling a long period of ill health. A most inspiring bandmate, character, musician and brother.”
Van Bruystegem was a key member of Triggerfinger for over two decades, helping shape the band’s distinctive rock sound and high-energy performances that gained international acclaim. Known for his charismatic stage presence and deep, grooving bass lines, he played a vital role in the band’s success, contributing to hit albums like All This Dancin’ Around and Colossus.
