American Southern gospel singer, songwriter and pianist, Squire Parsons passed away on May 5, 2025 at the age of 77 due to cardiac arrest. He was received the Singing News Fan Award in 1988 for Favorite Male Singer.
He completed his Bachelor of Science in music in 1970 from West Virginia University Institute of Technology in Montgomery, West Virginia, United States and also learnt to play piano and bassoon.
After completed graduation, Squire Parsons’s career began as music teacher from Hannan High School in Mason County, West Virginia. He also worked as music director for churches. In his career beginning time, he wrote Sweet Beulah Land song, released on 1980. He joined The Kingsmen Quartet in 1975 as a baritone and worked almost four years then he began his solo career. He ordained as a minister at Trinity Baptist Church in Asheville, North Carolina in 1975.
His popular songs were The Master of the Sea, Walk On, He Came to Me, I Call it Home, I Sing Because, I’m Not Giving Up, and Sweet Beulah Land.
He also worked in the Little Rock Crusade with William Franklin Graham Jr and the Gaither Homecoming Choir. In his career, he recorded his songs from Brian Free, Gaither Vocal Band, Gold City, Ivan Parker, Kingdom Heirs, the Blackwood Brothers, The Cathedrals, The Florida Boys, The Greenes, The Hoppers, The Kingsmen, The McKameys, Statesmen, Marty Raybon, Casting Crowns and The Sugar Creek Quartet.
He received various awards including the Singing News Fan Award for Favorite Male Singer in 1988, Singing News Fan Award for Favorite Songwriter ( five time 1986, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995 ) and Singing News Fan Award for Favorite Baritone ( two time 1986 and 1987 ).
