James Cook died: British super middleweight boxing champion, James Cook died on 7 June 2025 in London due to bladder cancer at the age of 66.
He born on 17 May 1959 in Runaway Bay, Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica. He and his family moved to London, when he was nine year old.
He received MBE award for his outstanding work with the young people of Hackney’s notorious Murder Mile in 2007.
He also appeared in reality show The Secret Millionaire.
He diagnosed bladder cancer in 2025 then he began treatment but his condition became seriously and he passed away. He grew up in Peckham, south London.
He was good runner but his growing interest in boxing. He joined Lynn AC Boxing Club for training. He recorded 20 victories in 26 fights as an amateur. His trainer was Brian Lawrence.
In 1984, James Cook won his first professional boxing title.
He defeated a boxer named Tony Jenkins to win the Southern Area Middleweight Title, which was vacant at the time.

The work he has done for youths in East London will live on forever and he will be hugely missed. Our condolences to his family and loved ones for their sad loss. RIP.”
