Paul Lloyd, the English boxer better known by his nickname “Livewire,” has died at the age of 57. His death was announced on September 19, 2026.
The London Boxing History announced his death news on X, “Gutted to read of the passing of former World Title challenger Paul “Livewire” Lloyd at the age of just 57. Lloyd would win the lot domestically, claiming Area, British, Commonwealth and European Titles. It’s been a sad few weeks for boxing, gone far too soon. RIP champ”
Born on December 7, 1968, in Bebington, Wirral, England, Lloyd built a notable career in both amateur and professional boxing. His cause of death has not been publicly confirmed in the reliable sources currently available.
Paul Lloyd began making his name in amateur boxing and represented Vauxhall Motors ABC in Ellesmere Port. In 1990, he won the Amateur Boxing Association of England (ABAE) bantamweight title.
He also competed internationally, taking part in the 1990 World Cup in Bombay, India, and later winning the 1992 Canada Cup bantamweight gold medal in Ottawa.
Lloyd subsequently turned professional and competed at bantamweight and super bantamweight. His professional record was 20 wins, including 14 by knockout, and 7 defeats in 27 bouts.
During his professional career, Lloyd captured several regional and international titles, including the British Boxing Board of Control Central Area super bantamweight title, British bantamweight title, European Boxing Union bantamweight title and Commonwealth bantamweight title. He also challenged for several major world titles.
