Thommy Price, the renowned drummer for Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, has passed away at the age of 68. His wife, Stefunny Price, confirmed his death on October 10, 2025.
Wife of Thommy Price, Stefunny Price announced his death news on Facebook and wrote, “It is with great sadness that we share the passing of beloved husband, friend, and legendary musician Thommy Price.”
“A devoted husband and proud father and powerhouse drummer and songwriter, Thommy’s extraordinary career spanned decades, performing and recording with some of rock’s most iconic artists. His energy, kindness, humor, and unmatched rhythm left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him and every stage he graced,” she added, “He will be deeply missed by his wife Stefunny Price, his beloved daughter Brooklyn and a big beautiful Italian family, friends, and countless fans around the world.”
Billy Idol wrote on Instagram, “Very sad to hear of Thommy Price’s passing yesterday. My condolences to his wife Stefunny, his daughter Brooklyn and the many friends, family and collaborators that knew and loved him.”
Born on December 9, 1956, Price was a celebrated rock musician who also played with Scandal and Billy Idol. He was widely recognized for his contributions as a session drummer, shaping the sound of many iconic rock hits over his five-decade career.
Thommy Price began his professional drumming career at just 16, first gaining attention with the band Scandal on their Warrior album, then working with Billy Idol. In 1986, he joined Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, remaining with the band for over 28 years.
Beyond drumming, he co-founded Price/Sulton with Kasim Sulton, releasing the album Lights On, whose song “No T.V. No Phone” appeared in the 1987 film The Allnighter. Price also led his own New York band, releasing the EP Sex, Drums & Rock ’n’ Roll, with tracks featured in the film Sweet Life. Even in 2025, he contributed to Ricky Byrd’s solo album NYC Made and the track “RnR’s Demise (Has Been Greatly Exaggerated),” showcasing his enduring influence in rock music.
